~~~
It is now that point of the semester where lots of students are thinking about how well they need to do in their classes to achieve the grade they want in a few weeks. For some, it means working really hard, or taking the "W" as this week is the last wee to do so. For others, they are on auto-cruise because they put in the work since the beginning.
I find myself in a comfortable position because I know that I'll be fine, but that doesn't mean I won't need to work hard. This week's class was a lot of catching up and achieving the minimum points to be on track for my desired grade. But, it was also a slow week in all of my other classes. As a result, I was really able to branch out and read things I was interested in and really take advantage of the extra credit opportunities.
It's scary to think that in just a few weeks, I'll be done with my junior year of college and enter my last year of college. I am excited for what the future will bring. My DAT went well, and I am super excited to apply for dental school in a few months.
I also have been trying to plan out my future semesters, and have enough room to take classes that interest me. I really have been enjoying the layout of this class, and am highly considering taking the Mythology and Folklore class! I also realize I enroll soon, so I definitely need to go get advised if I plan to take this class.
In my Intro to Hinduism class, we began the topic of Gandhi. It is interesting to see how much politics has played into the Hindu culture, and even up to the religion. My professor had us watch the movie "Gandhi" which starred Ben Kingsley. Interesting fact that I learned was that Ben Kingsley originally had an Indian named, but he changed it so that he would not be overlooked when directors began to cast actors for movies because of the ethnic name. Who knew?
  1. Sonali, congratulations on your satisfaction with your DAT performance. Test such as the DAT and MCAT are life changing and viable in the advancement to the next process of becoming a physician. I am in the same boat in regards to how quickly Junior year has flown by. It's been an amazing experience thus far. Reality is starting to set in that in 365 days, plus about 48, that will be walking across the stage in our caps and gowns preparing to start a new chapter of our lives.
  2. Sonali, I enjoyed reading your reflection post! I cannot believe we are already past week 10 of this semester! It is crazy how time has flown by, I am going to be graduating in 39 days and it just does not feel real yet. You are so lucky that you have one more year in this crazy amazing place! Soak up every moment of your last year of college because you will blink and it will be over before you know it!
An Introduction to Me, Myself, and I
Welcome to my blog! ~~~ (Image information: Personal photo of myself from Camp Crimson - July 2016) ~~~       Hi! My name is Sonali Demla, a junior Chemical Biosciences Pre-Dental major at the University of Oklahoma. I grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma with my little sister, little brother, and my dog Danny! My sister and I currently live together as she also attends the University of Oklahoma, and my little brother is in middle school. We're all really close, but my sister and I are closer than you might think. What do I mean by this? Well, when people ask me an interesting fact about myself, I tell them that my sister and I have the same birthday, except we're one year apart . Yes, an exact 365 days!  Our birthday is actually coming up very soon - January 16th to be exact. It's a nice date because usually it falls on the MLK holiday, so it seems fitting that we get the day off for our birthday. Some people say, "Well, that must suck." I actu...
Week 3 Story: Finding My True Love
                                             (Image Information: Rama and Sita with Gods Fred Miller. Source:  Flickr ) ~~~        It was a wonderful evening in Panchvati, and I was admiring the scenery right in front of me. Sita was out in the river, taking a bath. I was lucky to have her, and I knew she was lucky to have me.        Deep in my thoughts, I noticed something in the front yard. Beyond the trees, leaves, and greenery, there was movement. Someone was there.       It was a woman. I thought I would never see anyone more beautiful than Sita, but this woman in the front yard was gorgeous. When she walked around, her eyes glistened, her teeth sparkled, and she had the perfect womanly figure.       As she approached me, I began to feel nervous. I began to ...
