Week 8 Reflections

~~~
      The past 7 weeks have been really good in allowing myself to express myself creatively. As a science major, I don't really get that opportunity, and so this class has opened the doors of creativity for me. That being said, I do think because my mind is never really exposed to the arts or writing anymore, I feel like my abilities to read, think, and write like a writer are sub-par.
      Looking back at my reading notes, I can see that I am catching the bigger things like theme, development of character, plot, and conflict. However, the ability for me to develop my own ideas are lacking. I can see that as I go on and read my story posts as well. I don't really change much about the theme or characters, and really stick to the original story I read. However, after reading several other students posts, I see that there is much more to this process than just simply changing the gender, or switching up the ending.
     I am happy with the stories I have written as these were great beginnings in allowing myself to divulge into the creative side of my personality. However, I know that it can be a lot better. I think reading other students posts, and exploring the internet for ideas has continued to inspire new styles off writing and thinking for my own posts.
     Using this information, I really hope to make my storybook the best of of creative ability. I didn't write my first story last week solely for this reason, because I knew I needed to do more research and explore other storybooks, and maybe get some inspiration from other styles of writing. When I looked at the Myth and Folklore equivalent of my storybook, I was in awe by how amazing the author had put together her Gossip Girl site. I hope to at least have a half as good as presentation as hers.
     I think just really sitting down, and thinking about what writing styles have inspired me and how I can incorporate that myself will really help me in developing my skills. While the semester is only halfway over, I know there is lots of room to improve, and I am excited to see the type of writing posts I create by the end of the semester.
An Introduction to Me, Myself, and I
Welcome to my blog! ~~~ (Image information: Personal photo of myself from Camp Crimson - July 2016) ~~~       Hi! My name is Sonali Demla, a junior Chemical Biosciences Pre-Dental major at the University of Oklahoma. I grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma with my little sister, little brother, and my dog Danny! My sister and I currently live together as she also attends the University of Oklahoma, and my little brother is in middle school. We're all really close, but my sister and I are closer than you might think. What do I mean by this? Well, when people ask me an interesting fact about myself, I tell them that my sister and I have the same birthday, except we're one year apart . Yes, an exact 365 days!  Our birthday is actually coming up very soon - January 16th to be exact. It's a nice date because usually it falls on the MLK holiday, so it seems fitting that we get the day off for our birthday. Some people say, "Well, that must suck." I actu...
Week 3 Story: Finding My True Love
                                             (Image Information: Rama and Sita with Gods Fred Miller. Source:  Flickr ) ~~~        It was a wonderful evening in Panchvati, and I was admiring the scenery right in front of me. Sita was out in the river, taking a bath. I was lucky to have her, and I knew she was lucky to have me.        Deep in my thoughts, I noticed something in the front yard. Beyond the trees, leaves, and greenery, there was movement. Someone was there.       It was a woman. I thought I would never see anyone more beautiful than Sita, but this woman in the front yard was gorgeous. When she walked around, her eyes glistened, her teeth sparkled, and she had the perfect womanly figure.       As she approached me, I began to feel nervous. I began to ...
