Wow, in just two short days the semester begins! It has been great to get a head start in this class, because I am not ready for the impending stress.... yet. I had to use the idea of "not yet" as we learned from Carol Dweck. I have to get myself into a growth mindset this semester, because it's going to be one of the hardest semesters!

I am excited to take on the challenges that this semester will pose, and knowing that I will be submitting my dental school application by the end of it is bittersweet. I am also looking forward to my trip to Panama to perform dental care. It will definitely be a life-changing experience.

I already know that through this class, I am going to not just learn more about my culture and religion, but also more about myself. I have already learned so much through the readings this week about time management, growth mindset, and more. I am also looking forward to commenting on everyone else's blog posts, and see how everyone else progresses through the semester.

Every new semester has posed different challenges for me, and I never really mastered the best way to stay on top of things. From this past week's readings, and some of the apps I have downloaded, I hope to do better than I have in past semesters! I'm already a week ahead in this class and completing EC's, so that's a step forward, right?

I am so thankful for this 4-day weekend, because our next break won't be until Spring Break (yikes!). I also am celebrating my last day as a teenager, because tomorrow I turn 20! However, that feeling of Sunday night and knowing you have school the next day is about to be here. I don't even think I'll be able to sleep on time because of how much time I have had to relax this Winter Break.

Here's to a good semester, and I am looking forward to the rest of this course!

  1. Happy Birthday to you, Sonali! The big two-oh: fabulous!!!

And it is so great that you finished Week 1, including even extra credit, when Week 1 hasn't even started yet (officially): excellent! If you want to move on to Week 2 now, you can certainly go right ahead: the Ramayana and all its drama await you.

About images, especially Pixabay: when you include an image in a blog post, it's really important to upload your own copy of the image; don't just remote link to the image online — places like Pixabay block remote images, so your image is not showing up here now that they blocked it. What you can do is follow the instructions here for adding images by the upload option, and then it will be permanent and not disappear on you: Images in Blog Posts :-)

  2. I am very impressed to see that you started working on all of the material so early! I was not able to do this, as I am usually good at getting a head start, I think senioritis has really caught up with me. I also just wanted to wish you a Happy Late Birthday! I hope that you had a good one! Keep up the good work!

An Introduction to Me, Myself, and I

Welcome to my blog! ~~~ (Image information: Personal photo of myself from Camp Crimson - July 2016) ~~~       Hi! My name is Sonali Demla, a junior Chemical Biosciences Pre-Dental major at the University of Oklahoma. I grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma with my little sister, little brother, and my dog Danny! My sister and I currently live together as she also attends the University of Oklahoma, and my little brother is in middle school. We're all really close, but my sister and I are closer than you might think. What do I mean by this? Well, when people ask me an interesting fact about myself, I tell them that my sister and I have the same birthday, except we're one year apart . Yes, an exact 365 days!  Our birthday is actually coming up very soon - January 16th to be exact. It's a nice date because usually it falls on the MLK holiday, so it seems fitting that we get the day off for our birthday. Some people say, "Well, that must suck." I actu...

Week 3 Story: Finding My True Love

(Image Information: Rama and Sita with Gods Fred Miller. Source:  Flickr ) ~~~        It was a wonderful evening in Panchvati, and I was admiring the scenery right in front of me. Sita was out in the river, taking a bath. I was lucky to have her, and I knew she was lucky to have me.        Deep in my thoughts, I noticed something in the front yard. Beyond the trees, leaves, and greenery, there was movement. Someone was there.       It was a woman. I thought I would never see anyone more beautiful than Sita, but this woman in the front yard was gorgeous. When she walked around, her eyes glistened, her teeth sparkled, and she had the perfect womanly figure.       As she approached me, I began to feel nervous. I began to ...
